600 kilometers range for long-distance transport

Volvo FH Aero Electric offers 600 km range

Volvo launches electric truck with 600 km range

With the FH Aero Electric, Volvo Trucks is launching a new electric truck that has been specially developed for long-distance transportation. The combination of a range of 600 kilometers, fast charging in 40 minutes and high payload capacity marks a technological milestone.

Volvo brings electric trucks with a range of 600 km and batteries that can be recharged within a short time. The new e-axle of the Volvo FH Aero Electric creates additional space for batteries and thus enables higher capacities. The vehicle can be equipped with a total of eight batteries. This results in a total installed capacity of 780 kWh.

This range covers typical long-distance transport operations – without significantly reducing productivity.

Fast charging in 40 minutes thanks to MCS

The vehicle supports the new Megawatt Charging Standard (MCS). This allows the batteries to be charged from 20 to 80 percent in around 40 minutes.

Advantages of the MCS charging standard:

  • Charging possible during legally prescribed driving breaks
  • Minimum downtimes
  • Increase in daily operating time
  • Scalability for future charging infrastructure

This charging capacity makes all-electric long-distance transportation practical in daily operations.

Volvo launches electric truck with 600 km range and high payload

The truck reaches a total weight of 48 tons. A liftable and steerable trailing axle in a 6×2 configuration improves the weight distribution and allows more batteries on board. The payload is therefore on a par with conventional diesel trucks – without any restrictions for the transportation of heavy loads.

Integration into Volvo’s electric ecosystem

Volvo offers the FH Aero Electric with a standard or Aero cab. The vehicle is complemented by a comprehensive service package.

Scope of services:

  • Analysis of suitable routes for electrical operation
  • Charging infrastructure consulting for on-the-go and depot charging
  • Performance monitoring for entire e-truck fleets

With more than five years of experience in the e-truck segment, Volvo actively supports customers in the transition to electromobility.

Market leader in heavy-duty e-trucks

Volvo Trucks offers eight electric truck models worldwide for various applications:

  • Urban logistics
  • Regional traffic
  • Construction industry
  • Waste disposal
  • Long-distance traffic

Since the start of series production in 2019, more than 4,900 electric trucks have been delivered to 49 countries.

Three-way strategy for climate-neutral heavy goods transport

Volvo is pursuing the goal of being completely climate-neutral by 2040. The approach is based on three technology paths:

decarbonization strategy:

  • Battery electric drives for emission-free short and long distances
  • Fuel cell technology for long distances with high energy requirements
  • Combustion engines with alternative fuels (e.g. HVO, biogas, green hydrogen)

This combination ensures flexibility and scalability for different markets and applications.

Conclusion: Volvo brings trucks with a range of 600 km and combines technology with practicality in the Volvo FH Aero Electric. With a charging time of 40 minutes and a high payload, Volvo Trucks delivers a solution that can hold its own in daily use. The e-axle, the MCS fast charging system and the integration into the Volvo service portfolio make the truck a real step forward in climate-friendly transportation. Volvo thus confirms its leading role in the field of heavy electric vehicles and sets new standards for the decarbonization of the industry.
