Spot repair workstation from SEHON

Spot repair for every size of business and vehicle

The German paint system manufacturer SEHON offers various workstations and products for professional spot repairs. According to the company’s experience, more than 80 percent of all repairs are due to minor damage. If implemented correctly, this can develop into a profitable business.

For Tiemo Sehon (CEO), it is clear that many body and paint stores are doing without a professional spot repair business: “There are good reasons to set up a spot repair business that is visible and active for the customer. Because despite modern safety systems in vehicles, minor damage continues to increase. Nevertheless, around 70 percent of all those affected do not have their minor damage repaired. These potential customers fear that repairs in a workshop are far too expensive. This prejudice can only be counteracted if the repair company shows its colors and openly and actively advertises spot repairs as a service. After all, how is a potential customer supposed to know that the company in question is also a spot repair specialist?”

The marketing experts at SEHON see another positive aspect in the fact that Spotrepair is a sustainable repair method, according to the motto: repair instead of replace. Sustainability is extremely important for the end consumer and therefore also for the image and positioning of the workshop that offers spot repairs.

Spot repair with the Multi-Speed-Master

The Multi-Speed-Master (MSM) is a patented professional workstation specially developed by SEHON for minor damage repairs. It is a modular spot repair system that can be adapted in size and equipment for the repair of cars, commercial vehicles, buses and rail vehicles.

Vehicle preparation and the painting and drying process take place directly at the spot repair workstation. There is no need for time-consuming maneuvering. Above all, however, the cost-intensive use of a paint booth and dryer can be dispensed with for minor damage repairs or maintenance work. This saves energy, time and costs.

The Spotrepair system can be easily retrofitted to existing systems. No underfloor work is necessary. The MSM requires little space (from 7 × 4 m for cars) and has an easily movable supply and exhaust air hood that can be positioned directly at the spot and ensures fast and clean painting. The low supply and exhaust air requirements and the fact that no additional recirculating air heating is usually required guarantee minimal energy and follow-up costs.

High-vacuum suction rails with integrated energy supply along the workstation, perfect illumination thanks to explosion-proof high-performance lights, drying using infrared or UV, various equipment packages and a fast return on investment are the hallmarks of this spot repair workstation.

Multifunctional workstations and cabins

Back in 2008, SEHON presented the industry with the first professional multifunctional workstation for time- and cost-saving refinishing. Today, the term coined by SEHON has become common parlance in companies and is synonymous with workstations where several steps of a refinishing process can be carried out.

A multi-cabin can be used for most cases of damage. IR or UV drying significantly shortens drying times. Energy costs are also reduced compared to recirculating air operation.

The integration of preparation and finishing in the multi-paint booth leads to further time savings. This is because the usual maneuvering of vehicles between the individual workstations and the actual paint booth in conventional processes is no longer necessary. The result is a higher vehicle throughput with simultaneous cost savings.

Another advantage is that an employee can work at several multi-workstations at the same time. Multi-multi workstations – not uncommon among SEHON customers – lead to higher productivity in the company.

SEHON plans multi-workstations and cabins for new builds and conversions right from the start. This allows the body and paint store to decide immediately: This damage goes into the traditional paint booth or this damage goes straight into the multi-booth. This workflow decision increases the bodyshop’s efficiency when it comes to repair jobs.

SEHON multifunctional cabins can usually be retrofitted in an existing business without any problems. For example, by using an existing preparation area for the new multifunction booth. Another advantage: the MSM gives the paint store additional painting capacity without having to convert or expand.

Universal preparation stations

SEHON universal preparation stations for vehicle preparation can also be used for spot repairs. SEHON universal preparation stations comply with the BG guidelines and are generally equipped with the prescribed supply and exhaust air technology. The workstations are generally equipped with lifting platforms and are available as underfloor or above-floor versions. Infrared or UV drying systems are used for spot repairs. The space required for a universal preparation station is approx. 7 × 4 m.

Professional workstations for spot repairs

With the original multifunctional workstations and booths (SE-MULTISTAR), the MULTI-SPEED-MASTER spot repair system and the spot repair-capable universal preparation stations, SEHON offers three options for equipping your own business for professional minor damage repairs.

The same applies to spot repairs: the safety of employees and the business is at least as important as the technology chosen. Some inexpensive, so-called multifunctional workstations in particular can have elementary safety deficits. For example, SEHON cannot recommend working at a normal preparation station without its own supply and exhaust air system due to the possible circulation of dust.

The size of the company, its business objectives, quality requirements and a number of safety aspects are decisive factors in selecting the right technology. The German manufacturer guarantees that all workstations offered and installed comply with the applicable regulations and guidelines.
